EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is recommended by NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) and is a recognized effective treatment for post traumatic stress disorder. It can also be used to allow clients to clear disturbing emotions connected to past events which are still causing symptoms in the present. It is not a talking therapy but uses the client’s eye movements to stimulate their brain to process and resolve emotional blocks.

EMDR may be right for you if:

-You have symptoms of PTSD
-There is something in your past that you feel ‘stuck’ with and you want to release it once and for all
-You have had counseling or psychotherapy before but you feel it has only got you so far. Despite having developed a lot of insight into yourself you can still get pulled into upsetting memories and negative, unresourceful states.
